Program director Na Young-seok (Na PD for short) is one of the most talented professionals in producing creative content with unique casts for South Korea’s popular variety shows.
He produced and directed the first season of KBS 1 Night & 2 Days (2012) that had the highest rating in the Korean entertainment industry. In 2013, he joined CJ E&M tvN and successfully created the popular variety travel series Grandpa Over Flowers.

Young and old generations travel in different countries
Na PD has come up with a new show that is aimed at encourages its viewers to travel. In relation to the young generation’s backpacking culture, he created the travel series about a group of celebrities (who are in their comfort zone) travelling to various countries.
- Grandpa Over Flowers (3 seasons) – Veteran actors Lee Soon-jae, Shin Goo, Park Geun-hyung and Baek Il-seob (with actor Lee Seo-jin as their porter) travel to France, Switzerland, Taiwan, Spain and Greece. This show gained so much international success that even China and the US bought the rights to make their own versions!
- Sister Over Flowers – The first spin-off features popular actresses Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Ja-ok, Kim Hee-ae and Lee Mi-yeon alongside actor Lee Seung-gi. They travel from Turkey to Croatia
- Youth Over Flowers (5 Seasons) – The second spin-off features young celebrities (mid-20s to late 30s) traveling around exotic countries – Laos, Peru, Africa, Iceland and Australia. He gives unexpected surprises to these casts by giving them flight tickets on the spot! They are given the freedom to plan their own travels (but with limited budget!)
Follow their adventurous travels to discover these countries’ breath taking culture and sights. The surprising scenarios (including bromance, personal lives and the ups and downs of travelling together) unfold throughout the series.
Cooking fresh ingredients at the rural villages
Na PD was so impressed with actor Lee Seo-jin’s cooking skills that he decided to produce a new variety food series 3 Meals a Day – popular actors are tasked to cook dishes with home-grown ingredients and fresh catch of fishes at the countryside and fishing village. Famous actors Cha Seung-won, Yoo Hae-jin, Son Ho-jun and Nam Joo-hyuk are also part of the show!
In the series, watch these actors how they prepare their meals, doing daily household chores, get their catches of the day and harvest the crops.

Journey in China and Vietnam
In New Journey to the West, Na PD takes us around China and Vietnam with funny and talented cast members (Kang Ho-dong, Lee Soo-geun, Eun Ji-won, Lee Seung-gi, Ahn Jae-hyeon, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and WINNER’s Mino). They take on the characters of Chinese classic novel Journey to the West and popular manga series Dragonball.
Running for four seasons, they have visited these towns and cities of China and Vietnam:
- Season 1 – Xian
- Season 2 – Chengdu and Lijiang
- Season 3 – Guilin and Xiamen
- Season 4 – Hanoi, Cat Ba, Hai Phong and Sa Pa
The casts have to complete Na PD’s challenging missions (including the surprising ones!). The funny encounters in their travels will make you laugh till your stomach hurts. They often give the wrong answers in simple quizzes; they have hilarious conversations with the locals; they have to do crazy morning missions and many more. Their variety skills are top-notch!
Funny and romantic newlyweds at home

Na PD produced the first season of Newlywed Diaries after he saw that the newlywed couple Ahn Jae-hyeon and Ku Hye-sun look sweet together. The series follows the lovely couple as they spend quality time together at a countryside home in Inje for two weeks.
Their funny and romantic moments at home and while visiting nearby towns will make you smile. They also talk about their life as a couple and living at the countryside. Na PD definitely doesn’t leave out the food – the couple shows they make fresh home-grown ingredients and home-cooked meals.
Running a restaurant and enjoying life at a tropical paradise

Youn’s Kitchen focuses on South Korean celebrities (Youn Yuh-jung, Shin Goo, Lee Seojin and Jung Yu-mi) managing a Korean cuisine restaurant on a small island near Bali.
They come up with new dishes for the menu, chat with travellers from around the world and chill out at their holiday home and the beaches during their breaks. They enjoy running the restaurant so much that the second season will be aired next year!
These series offer viewers the wonderful experiences of enjoying the long healing getaways from bustling cities.
Due to its popularity, Kang Ho-dong wants to do a parody program of Youn’s Kitchen. Na PD fulfilled his wish after he won a challenge in New Journey to the West 4. The series Kang’s Kitchen was recently aired in mid-December. Kang Ho-dong and Lee Soo-geun works as chefs while Eun Ji-won, Ahn Jae-hyeon and WINNER’s Mino helps out in the restaurant.
